6-Ingredient Steak Marinade

For the omnivores among us, nothing completes a good all fashioned, American BBQ like a well cooked steak. Want an easy recipe on those days when eating is just more appealing than cooking?

Here's something we came up with on the fly and have come back to time and again. Get your appetites ready!

Ingredients (per 12-16 oz of steak):

3 Tbsp olive oil
3-4 Tbsp soy sauce (this takes the place of most of the salt)
2 Large cloves of garlic crushed or finely chopped and mashed
1 medium to long sprig of fresh rosemary - removed from the stem and finely chopped
1 tsp fresh sage leaves, julienned and finely chopped
optional: 3+ dashes of hot sauce or smoked paprika
S&P (mostly pepper)

Instructions:

Pat your steak dry, and sprinkle it with lots of fresh ground black pepper and a touch of salt.

Open a freezer or gallon zip-top bag and start assembling the marinade, starting with the liquids. and ending with the herbs. Zip closed and massage everything around for about 10-15 seconds. This will allow the oils from the fresh herbs and garlic to meld into the marinade quickly.

Stand the bag up and push the liquid down and away from the top, open the bag and place the steaks inside, taking care not to overstuff the bag.

Massage the marinade into the steaks turning them over.

Leave in the bag for up to 8 hours or overnight. In a pinch, we've let the steaks sit while we get the fire going, and grill our steaks last. The 30-45 minutes from bagging the steak to putting it on the grill was sufficient for the flavors to infuse.
